Picture Retakes

Picture retakes for Smackover Preschool, Smackover Elementary School, and Smackover High School will be Tuesday, October 6th.

Unless there is something wrong with the original pictures, all retakes will be $5.

Please bring money for retakes on the day of pictures.

 

Shooting Sports Parent Meeting

There will be a Smackover Shooting Sports meeting on October 6 at 6:00 in the Smackover cafeteria.  Any students in 6th-12th grade interested in shooting this upcoming season must attend with a parent.

All participants will need their Hunter’s Ed. card by March 1st, so make plans to get this completed as soon as possible.

STEM Saturday! – Blowing Down Houses

Students in Mrs. Wills’ and Mrs. Jones’ kindergarten classes have been learning more about the engineering design process through their Project Lead the Way module.

This time, students were read the story of the Three Little Pigs.  Students had to design and build a house out of given materials which would withstand the forces of a wolf.  The big bad wolf is a very strong fan.

Assistant Superintendent Retires

Mr. John Gross, assistant superintendent for the Smackover-Norphlet School District, retired on Friday, September 18, 2015.  While Mr. Gross was only with the district for a short time, his impact and contributions to the district were monumental.  We are grateful for his service to our district, our students, and our faculty.

Mr. Gross’s legacy can be seen and felt in so many areas including:

  • Reorganization of the district
  • Renovation of Norphlet Middle School
  • Community outreach
  • Mentoring administration
