Norphlet Middle School sixth through eighth-grade students will begin ACT Aspire testing Monday, May 1 – Wednesday, May 3. Students will receive a free breakfast at 7:30 each morning. Please read the detailed information below that will assist your school and your student in doing his/her very best.
How Parents Can Help
When a test is being given, you can help by making sure your student:
- Gets plenty of sleep the night before the test;
- Has breakfast on the morning of the test;
- Goes to school on the day of a test;
- Does not have any out-of-school appointments on the day of a test;
- Knows you think he/she will do well on the tests;
and
- Knows you understand the test is important.
Your child is scheduled to test on the following days and times.
Monday Reading 8:05 – 9:10 & Writing 9:20 – 10:00
Tuesday Math 8:05 – 9:20
Wednesday Science 8:05 – 9:05 & English 9:15 – 9:55
Buckaroo Band Shines At Competition
Congratulations to the award-winning Battlin’ Buckaroo Marching Band! The band competed in Fordyce High School’s “Battle of the Bands” contest and received an Excellent Rating! The Flag Line Dance Team won first place and the Percussion Line won second place. Overall, the Battlin’ Buckaroo Marching Band placed second in the contest. Great job Band!
Battle Of The Books
“Battle of the Books” is a reading incentive program introduced to Smackover-Norphlet School District by librarians Charlie Weaver (Smackover Elementary) and Melody Morgan (Norphlet Middle School). Students read books and come together in groups to demonstrate their abilities and to test their knowledge of the books they have read.
The following 3rd – 6th graders recently participated in the district’s first annual “Battle of the Books”:
3rd Grade – Bridger Wilson, Colten Magee
4th Grade – Morgan Hansen
5th Grade – Reed Chandler, Jacob Reeder, Kayden Robinson, Makenna Thurlkill, Erielle Rucks, Allyson Diaz, Lilly Goodwin, Piper Hansen, Cierra Philyaw, Luke Reynolds, Liza Knox, Brooklyn Landry
6th Grade – Brayden Huckabee, Katherine Wolfe, Lunden Clark, Kimberly Parker, Klare Yarbrough, Alyssa McVay
Winners of our first competition include:
3rd Place and receiving wireless earbuds were Makenna Thurlkill, Brooklyn Landry, and Kayden Robinson.
2nd Place and receiving waterproof GoPro Cameras were Katherine Wolfe, Liza Knox, and Luke Reynolds.
1st Place and receiving hp Chromebooks were Erielle Rucks, Bridger Wilson, and Klare Yarbrough.
Congratulations to all of the participants! Special thanks to Mr. Logan Wilson (parent volunteer) for helping during the competition.
