Accepting Applicants for the Zone 6 School Board Seat

The Smackover School Board is looking to fill the Zone 6 School Board Seat.

To qualify for the seat, you must be 18 years of age, not have any felonies, and reside within Zone 6.

Interested applicants should contact the Superintendent’s Office at 725-3132 by Friday, February 15.  The School Board will conduct interviews on February 19 and will vote on filling the vacancy during the regular school board meeting that evening.

 

January School Board Meeting

The Smackover School District Board of Directors met in regular session on Monday, January 21, 2013.  Highlights from the meeting include:

  • Approved Melissa Rocconi, LEA Supervisor, as the individual responsible for implementing a surrogate parent program for the Smackover School District.
  • Approved an overnight trip to Fayetteville for agriculture students.
  • Changed the board meeting dates for February and March to Tuesday, February 19, and Tuesday, March 12.
  • Accepted a letter of resignation from Don Smeltzer, Superintendent, effective June 28, 2013.
  • Tommy Norrell submitted his letter of resignation as Board Member and Board President, effective immediately.

The Smackover School District Board of Directors meets in regular session on the third Monday of every month at 5:30 pm in the board room of the central office.  The public is invited to attend.

Updated Cheerleader Tryout Information

Due to a conflict of dates the cheer practice/tryouts dates have been changed to March 30 and Apr. 3.

If your child is interested in trying out for junior or senior high cheerleader for the 2013-2014 school year, then please save the following dates:

  • March 30– Tryout practice
  • April 3 – Tryouts after school
  • June 1st (Saturday) – Stunt clinic
  • July 24th -26th – Camp

Practice will be held prior to the clinic and camp.  Practices are mandatory.
