Response to Homecoming at SHS

SHS had an awesome Homecoming for the 2021 year! Students and teachers decorated their hallways using the theme, “There’s No Place Like Smackover” and posted photos on social media! A response was made in a tweet by actress and singer Kristin Chenoweth. Responses like these shows our pride and traditions in Smackover are seen by others around the country. Thank you SHS for showing that Smackover Norphlet School District is the BEST to learn and grow!

Update on the Pee Wee Bucks! Go Buckaroos!

Smackover Pee Wee Football had another banner day on the playing field Saturday.  The Jr Pee Wee Buckaroos managed a 30-14 win against the previously undefeated Jr Pee Wee Dragons from Junction City.  The Jr Dragons came out flexing their offensive power, as they marched down the field on the games opening drive.  Facing a 4th and long from the Bucks 25 yard line, The Jr Pee Wee Dragons squeezed a pass over the outstretched hands of the Jr Pee Wee Buckaroo defenders to put the Jr Pee Wee Bucks in the unfamiliar position of playing from behind.  It only took three plays for the Jr Pee Wee Buckaroos to regain the lead, as Jayce Owens took the handoff, stiff armed his way through defenders around the right end, on his way to the endzone.  AJ Spradley completed the 2 point conversion pass to Cameron McGhee to put the Jr Pee Wee Bucks ahead 8-6.  The defense found it’s footing as they held the Dragon offense in check for the remainder of the half while the Bucks offense continued to score.  Omari Island raced down the sidelines on a long touchdown run and Owens added another score to push the Buckaroos lead to 24-6 at the half.  Zy’ion Dixon closed out the game and set the final scoring margin finding the endzone as time expired.  Aside from the early pass play and a long touchdown run on a fake reverse, the Jr Pee Wee Bucks defense, led by Jamar Strickland, Jordan Curtis and Ashton Lewis stood strong, holding the Jr Pee Wee Dragons under their 20 point per game average.  The win moves the 6-1 Jr Pee Wee Buckaroos to into 2nd place in the league standings and secures their reservation for the Nov 6th playoffs.

The Pee Wee Buckaroos had another dominant performance on both sides of the ball in their 44-0 win.  Ryder Beasley had an outstanding game defensively, recording two interceptions and recovering a fumble as the defense turned in another dominant performance, keeping the Pee Wee Dragons off the score board as the Pee Bucks recorded their 5th shutout victory in 7 games, improving to 7-0 on the season.  The unyielding Pee Wee Buckaroo defense has only allowed two scores this season.  The Pee Wee Buckaroo offense showed that they can be just as relentless as their defense.  Despite Derwin Goodwin (rushing) and Beasley (interception return) having their respective touchdowns called back for penalties, the high powered Pee Wee Buck offense did not miss a beat.  Standout Christian Williams had another banner day, slashing and dashing through the defense on his way to scoring 5 touchdowns.  Trason Parlor weaved his way through the Pee Wee Dragon defense to add another touchdown on the evening.  The win sets up a showdown this Saturday in Junction with the also undefeated Fordyce Redbugs to determine the regular season title, the overall #1 playoff seed, and Super Bowl host site.

Smackover Pee Wee/Jr Pee Wee Buckaroos wrap up the regular seasons this Saturday against the Fordyce Redbugs at Junction City High School.  Jr Pee Wee kick off at 9am followed by the Pee Wee Bucks at 10:30am.  Go Bucks! Win!
