Robotics Club Competes in 1st Tourney of the Season

The Smackover-Norphlet School District Robotics Club had three fifth grade robotics teams competing in their first VEX IQ competition on Saturday at McGehee High School.

The Robotics Club has students competing at various levels:

  • 5th and 6th graders – VEX IQ
  • 7th and 8th graders – VEX EDR
  • 9th through 12th graders – VEX EDR

Each robot is scheduled to participate in 3 different tournaments throughout the season in addition to various local scrimmages being held at NMS and El Dorado.  There are currently 5-8 robotics teams that are in process at this time.

Sponsors are being sought for the SNSD Robotics Club to cover the registration costs for the tournaments.  There is a $55 registration fee for each robot competing in a tournament for a total cost of no more than $1,250 for all of the robots to compete for the entire season.

If an individual, business, or industry would like to help sponsor a robotics team to compete, please contact Coach Robin Boerwinkle at robin.boerwinkle@smackover.net.  Donations may also be made at the Smackover-Norphlet School District with a designation towards the SNSD Robotics Club.
