SHS Parent Meeting

A Parent Meeting to discuss the upcoming summer schedule and 2024 Football season will be held on Tuesday, May 7, at 6 p.m. in Hobgood Auditorium. This meeting is for all senior high and junior high parents.

SHS ATLAS Test Schedules

Students at Smackover High School will begin the ATLAS state assessment TOMORROW, through Thursday, May 9.  The schedule will be as follows:

  • Tuesday, May 7: 9th and 10th grade English Language Arts Summative
  • Wednesday, May 8: Algebra I and Geometry End-of-Course Exams
  • Thursday, May 9: Biology End-of-Course Exam

The following testing tips are encouraged:

  • Get a good night’s sleep
  • Dress comfortably but in accordance with the school dress code (layers are good for varying classroom temperatures)
  • Arrive at school on time
  • Have a fully charged computer

Students will be served breakfast at 7:50 each morning before beginning the day’s testing. Parents or guardians should encourage their students to work hard and do their best on each exam. 

Parents or guardians may access additional information about ATLAS testing at https://atlasportal.org/families.html, as well as access practice exams. When test results become available in the fall of 2024, families will be able to view student score information at this same web address.

Senior High Athletic Banquet

The SHS Senior High Athletic Banquet will be May 14 at 6 p.m. in the Family Life Center of First Baptist Church – Smackover.  

Tickets are available now for purchase and/or pickup. Athletes have their tickets reserved (at no charge) and they must pick them up at the high school office. Each athlete is allotted 2 additional tickets for purchase for family/friends to attend. 

Tickets are $15 each and can be purchased at the high school office (exact cash or checks are accepted;  check to be made to Smackover Booster Club).  Tickets cover entry and a meal catered by Woods.

On Friday May 10, the tickets that have not been purchased will be open for purchase with no purchase limit. These will be on a first come first serve basis.  You must have a ticket to attend the banquet.  

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Who is eligible for the banquet?
Senior high athletes who completed a senior high sport for the entire season

    Are 9th graders eligible?
    If they completed a senior high sport for the entire season.  Example Softball has athletes 9-12 grade on a team.

    Do athletes need a ticket to enter?
    Yes. You must pick up the ticket, free of charge, from the office.  This is so we can have an approximate count for catering.

    Do parents need a ticket to enter? Even if they do not want to eat?
    Yes, everyone must purchase a ticket to attend.  Through the generous donations from the booster club and parent tickets, we are able to feed all athletes at no cost.

    SHS 100th Anniversary Celebration Package

    TODAY IS THE DEADLINE! Celebrate Smackover High School in a big way with a 100th Anniversary SHS shirt! If you are attending graduation, we encourage you to purchase a Celebration Package, which includes a shirt and a confetti cannon! When we present the Class of 2024 as official graduates, we will have a confetti “explosion” to celebrate our newest group of SHS alumni! See below for more information.

    SES Testing Schedule

    Students at Smackover Elementary School will take the ATLAS state assessment on Monday, May 6, 2024 through Wednesday, May 8, 2024.  The schedule will be as follows:

    • Monday, May 6, 2024: Reading
    • Tuesday, May 7, 2024: Math
    • Wednesday, May 8, 2024: Science

    The following testing tips are encouraged:

    • Get a good night’s sleep
    • Dress comfortably but in accordance with the school dress code (layers are good for varying classroom temperatures)
    • Arrive at school on time
    • Eat a good breakfast

    For students that need breakfast, breakfast will be in the cafeteria each morning 7:15-7:40. Parents or guardians should encourage their students to work hard and do their best on each exam.
