The Smackover-Norphlet School District Board of Directors has announced that Mr. Dusty Darden has been appointed to serve as Director for SNSD Zone 3 as of the most recent SNSD school board meeting on May 16.
Mr. Darden was appointed to fill the position left vacant when former Zone 3 director, Lynn Birchfield, officially stepped down in April. Mrs. Birchfield had served as board president and had been a member of the SNSD Board of Directors for 16 years before announcing she would be retiring from the board this past December.
Mr. Darden has been a member of the Smackover-Norphlet community for 18 years and currently works for Lockheed Martin. His wife, Janda, works for the district as an administrative assistant in the SNSD School Linked Health Center. The Dardens have two children: Dylan, a 2015 graduate of Smackover High School, and Taylor, who is currently a sophomore at SHS.
“I congratulate Mr. Darden on his appointment and thank him for his desire to serve as a director on a school board,” said Robby Frizzell, SNSD Superintendent of Schools. “I look forward to working alongside Dusty to serve the students of Smackover-Norphlet School District.”
