Award Winning Steer

Kaylee Armstrong had the Bronze Medallion Market Steer at the 80th Arkansas State Fair and Livestock Show.  She attended the annual Sale of Champions in Barton Coliseum and was inducted into the Purple Circle Club.

The club is an awards program recognizing junior livestock exhibitors who earned championship honors at the Arkansas State Fair. It is sponsored by Arkansas Farm Bureau.

Pie in the Face!

Norphlet Middle School employees Lee Gilkey and Robert Hodges graciously accepted a “Pie in the Face” by students Tatum Watson and Emilee Hodges.

These two gentlemen were awarded this honor by raising the most money for the library in the “All for Books” contest.

Thank you Lee, Robert, Tatum, and Emilee for being good sports and promoting our library!

National Finalists at Agriscience Fair

Rikki Holloway, Brennan Holland, and Gavin Murphy members of the Smackover FFA Chapter from Smackover Arkansas, were national finalist in the 2019 National FFA Agriscience Fair at the 92nd National FFA Convention & Expo in Indianapolis. The National FFA Agriscience Fair is a competition for FFA members who are interested in the science and technology of agriculture. It is held each year during the National FFA Convention & Expo and sponsored nationally by Cargill, John Deere and Syngenta.

FFA members compete in the national agriscience fair in one of six categories:

  • Animal Systems
  • Environmental Services/Natural Resource Systems
  • Food Products and Processing Systems
  • Plant Systems
  • Power, Structural and Technical Systems
  • Social Science

To qualify for the National FFA Agriscience Fair, students must be in grades seven through 12, conduct a scientific research project pertaining to the agriculture and food science industries and present their findings to a panel of judges with a display and report. All national participants are selected as the state winner at their state agriscience fairs and earn national competition eligibility after being placed in the top 12 within their respective categories.

The National FFA Organization provides leadership, personal growth and career success training through agricultural education to more than 700,000 student members who belong to one of the more than 8,600 local FFA chapters throughout the U.S., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The organization is also supported by more than 8 million alumni and supporters throughout the U.S.

NMS Semester Test Schedule

Below is the semester test schedule for Norphlet Middle School:

  • Wednesday, December 18 – Test periods 1, 3, 5 (Regular schedule)
  • Thursday, December 19 – Test periods 2, 4, 6 (Regular schedule)
  • Friday, December 20 – Test period 7 (first thing in the morning) followed by students going to periods 1 – 4

Any make-ups from Wednesday or Thursday will be on Friday.

Students will be released early on Friday at 1:21.

Students may check out after their last test, but not during a testing period.  Prior arrangements must be made for check out.
