There will be a Buckaroo Booster Club meeting Monday, August 22, 2016, at 6:30 pm in Coach Steele’s classroom (Room 112) at Smackover High School.
Anyone interested in helping building up the Buckaroo athletic programs please attend!
You do not have to have a child in athletics to participate…everyone is welcome to attend!
There will be a band parents meeting on Tuesday, August 23, at 6:00pm in the Smackover High School Band Hall.
This meeting is for the parents of all band students in both junior and senior band. We will be discussing the upcoming events for the fall season.
The Black and White Game will be played Thursday in the new Multi-Purpose Indoor Facility on the Smackover High School campus..
The Junior High game will begin at 5:30 pm and the Senior High will square off at 6:30 pm.
Admission will be a towel or washing powder. There is no seating inside the facility but an area will be marked off for fans to stand and watch.
The Smackover FFA accepted a new American and Arkansas flag to be displayed in front of Smackover High School. The flags were graciously donated by Woodman of the World, represented by field agents: David Neely, Bill Skidmore, & Josh Skidmore.
The Smackover-Norphlet School District Board of Directors met in regular session on Monday, August 15, 2016. During the meeting, the board approved and signed a resolution supporting the District in seeking an Act 1240 Waiver regarding teacher licensure from the Arkansas Department of Education. If approved, this waiver would allow the district to hire a non-licensed person as a teacher of record provided that the person:
- Had a minimum of a bachelor’s degree with either course work directly related to the teaching assignment or career-related experience directly related to the teaching assignment
- Was in the process of obtaining the appropriate licensure from the Arkansas Department of Education.
The Smackover High School Dean of Students, Coach BJ Greene, met with all high school students on Monday. He shared information with the students which would help them to have a successful year of school.

Game times for Thursday will be as followed:
- Jr. High at 6 pm
- Sr. High at 7 pm
The games will be played in Buckaroo Stadium in Smackover.
