SES Receives Book Donation

Smackover Elementary School recently received a donation of books for the elementary library from Project SOUTH (Serving Our Units aT Home).  The mission of Project SOUTH is to enhance the lives of veterans and military by providing the Union County comunity with resources dealing with military issues.

Military Matters is a library program implemented by Project SOUTH that is designed to supply area school libraries with a variety of books associated with the military in order to raise awareness and promote understanding and education.

Smackover Elementary School would like to thank Project SOUTH for the book donation and Mrs. Clarice Long for participating in this project.

SHS Band Students Selected for Honor Band

Four students from Smackover High School were selected to participate in the Four States Honor Band.  These students will have the opportunity to participate in Honor Band Rehearsals and the Honor Band Concert January 16-18, 2014 at Texarkana’s Texas High School.

250 students from four states (Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas) will participate in the annual event sponsored by the Four States Bandmasters Association.

Students selected from Smackover High School are:

  • Haley Clayton – Bass Clarinet
  • Rae Ann Lowery – Flute
  • Alex Golden – Alto Saxophone
  • Riley Duke – Snare Drum

This is Haley’s third year to participate in the event.

January Calendar of Events

Athletic Announcements

Track

Students interested in participating in track this semester must see Coach Osborn this week.  No one will be added to track after this week.

Baseball

Anyone interested in playing baseball need to sign up with Coach Strickland today.

Senior High Football (2014-2015)

Any student who did not play senior football this year who would like to be on the team next year needs to see Coach Strickland this week.
