Don and Reba Smeltzer Mark 50th Anniversary, Retirement

A reception honoring both the 50th wedding anniversary of Don and Reba Smeltzer and Don Smeltzer’s retirement after 50 years in education will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Smackover School District Central Office, located at 112 E. Eighth St. in Smackover.

According to the announcement of the celebration, the Smeltzers “were married May 17, 1963, in El Dorado, the same year that Don began his career in education. After spending their first three years in Wyoming where Don taught at a very small and isolated school, they returned to Smackover. Don began his long career working at Smackover High School and Reba began hers at the National Bank of Commerce in El Dorado, where she worked her way up through the ranks, eventually retiring as an assistant vice president. They have been blessed with three children, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. All of their friends and family are cordially invited to attend. No gifts, please. We thank you for all your love and support over the years.”
